Nikki, your comment made me laugh! Thanks. Yes, that's a great takeaway about how boring life would be if it all worked out the way we thought it might!
Good morning Zoe, loved reading this because it's true that life is so unpredictable. When I taught primary school, I was trained to write very detailed day plans, but it soon became clear that I had to be equally prepared to forget all about those plans and be able to improvise. One could never be sure what the energy of the classroom would be like on any given day!
Diana, your comment made me smile. Yes, we need plans for when the plans go sideways. I find it very interesting that this was your experience with primary school.
I know when I was teaching university, I had a list of possible writing exercises at the back of my binder. It was often unpredictable how long a class would take to do, say, group work. The list was my backup.
As an alert teacher, you'd be seizing teachable moments and going with that energy. It would keep the class relevant and fun for your students.
Love reading about your life. Similar to mine. Your latest post really spoke to me. I organize my days and so often, it goes sideways. How boring it would be if it worked out every time.
