Hello Zoe, Thank you for the enchanting music and the great reminder to say thanks to those who have influenced my life. I've had some fabulous teachers over the years, and I have had some remarkable students who have left their impressions on me as well. Thanks, Zoe, for the trip to the 60s.
Mrs Grimes was my English teacher who, when I was 14, told me I should send a piece of my writing to a Women’s magazine. Of course I didn’t have a clue how to do that, didn’t read such magazines, but her confidence in me was a boost.
I have a poem I wrote after taking part in a wonderful morning of singing with a choir in Bristol. We sang Eriskay Love Lilt. It’s a beautiful song.
Pam, your comment made me smile. What a vote of confidence from your English teacher! Like you, at that age, I wouldn't have had the foggiest idea of how to do it.
And how nice that you've also sung the Eriskay Love Lilt. Singing moves our energies in a way I don't think I appreciated until recently.
I was back in high school as I read this piece. I thought of Mrs Scott and her ability to make literature come so alive that I’d dream about the stories at night. Teachers! Thanks Zoe!
Leslie, that's so sweet you had a great English teacher! What a wonderful thing that you'd dream about the stories at night.

Marlet, thanks for the reminder about students, too! You're absolutely right. Every year I taught I felt I learned from my students.
And glad you enjoyed the blast from the past!
